Home Again

On Monday, day 27 of both the month and our trip, we packed our suitcases and left our final hotel stop.

We drove through the rest of Nebraska.

We entered our lovely home state (bugs on the windshield and all).

Sunflowers and rather short trees welcomed us.

And then we pulled in our own driveway and entered our own home. Being back felt wonderful. Wonderful through unpacking. Wonderful through laundry. Wonderful through yarn organizing.

Even wonderful as I prepared for a physics class the next morning.

Three days have now flown by as we attempt to catch up with life here. Turns out there's a few things to do after traveling over 6,ooo in 27 days :) Thank you for coming along with me on this journey! I am so grateful for all the amazing experiences, and so looking forward to what's ahead here at home. . . Blessings~ Megan

Moving Right Along- day 26

I got that peek at the Great Salt Lake. . .

The idea of floating in the water delighted me. . .

But upon getting closer, we found more than salt. . .

Fleas sat motionless on the rocky shore, rising up in a wave and sounding like a sizzling army when we walked (and soon ran) on top of them. . .

So we dipped our toes in the water, then scurried back to the van. . .

It was an interesting experience, but I'm enjoying it more from the comfort of air conditioning. . .

After getting clean we headed east. . .

Encountering rain as we traversed the miles. . .

The book Forest Born by Shannon Hale captivated me (I attempted to blur the words so as not to give anything away :) . . .

We entered Central Time Zone as the sun set. . .

And I am glad to be back in the Midwest! ~Megan

To the Salt Lake- day 25

Traveling from Portland to Salt Lake City. . .

Passing tree farms. . .

Finishing a knitting experiment. . .

Practicing ampersands, inspired by Just My Type: A Book about Fonts . . .

Turning them into snowflakes- possible embroidery project? . . .

Entering first Idaho, then Utah. . .

Being very close to Golden Spike National Historic Site, but not having quite enough time to actually get there. . .

Finding an In-N-Out Burger as we arrived at our destination. . .

It looking regal as we left in the sunset. . .

But, horror of horrors, we did not see the Salt Lake. I'm hoping to sneak a peek tomorrow. . .  Blessings~ Megan

Finding a place with incredible dairy-free, gluten-free cheesecake. . .

Spotting Mount Hood. . .

Seeing Wakeena Falls. . .

Sisters happy to be out of the car. . .

Moving on to Multnomah Falls. . .

Breathtaking. . .

Walking up the trail for just a bit. . .

Driving by Horsetail Falls. . .

Seeing Ikea rise in the distance and eating a late dinner there. . .

Cracking up at the plates of seafood some people got at the buffet. . .

Winding our way out of the store (finding a few things to fill the van with in the process). . .

Thinking Portland is a place well worth visiting again~ Megan
