"A" Adventure

Any guesses as to who has experienced four different time zones today?

Yep, that would be my family and me :)

We left our Midwestern home on a 6 a.m. flight and are now officially on vacation. . .

In Alaska!

Now if we can just adjust to this whole time change thing (and the consequential fact that we've been up for twenty-ish hours) we should be flying high!

family matters

my sisters and I helped my PopPop make dressing today
it's delicious
the cornbread, onion, celery, chicken broth, and sage combination

PopPop started making it
when Nana no longer could
and he's now passing it on to us

food is important
as is learning to bake
but this recipe is made because family matters

mother | daughter

my mom knows
Paris black tea is best on Monday mornings,
living room furniture is meant to be rearranged,
bookshelves are the best furniture pieces,
Amazon books should not come bent,
breakfast is a good time for philosophizing,
school schedules are supposed to be tweaked,
TJ Maxx is an unpredictably great store,
soaking in epsom salts is the best care for sore muscles,
and talking to Jesus is the best care for you soul.

I hope she also knows I like being her daughter.

saying hello to autumn

September seemed to slip away and now October is following suit, trying to disappear around the bend. Autumn has definitely arrived, along with long pants, sweaters, grandparents transitioning to an assisted living facility, school in full swing, and news of our dance program's ballet next summer (to be continued. . . :). Here's a peek at the things capturing the attention of my camera (or rather, phone- having fun welcoming them to this bigger screen, despite the lapses in quality). . .

Hope you are having a lovely autumn!

What happens?

When your PopPop has MS
and takes a tumble
through the hospital
and into a rehab center?

When your Gramma has Dementia
and will stay with you
for 2-4 weeks
while he recovers?

When it's week four of school
and you have
six-month-old puppies
in ninety-degree heat?

Walk the pups around the block

Wonder why the leaves are already changing colors

Make tea, trying all three chai kinds in the drawer

Read on the patio swing in the shade, tea in hand and pups at play
